Independent project using MET Norway Locationforecast and GeoNames. Data are attributed under CC BY 4.0. We convert wind units and group forecast points by local date. We respect the provider’s cache expiry. These are automatic forecasts, not live station observations; availability is not guaranteed.
Data and methodology
Daily ranges use the lowest and highest available model points, not measured extremes. Today includes the remaining forecast hours. The icon and rainfall represent the displayed interval near midday, not the whole day.
Coverage
Search covers 103,391 places in European and nearby territories from GeoNames cities500: mainly populations above 500 and some smaller administrative centres. It is not a complete list of every village. The cards show selected destinations.

What Clima Europa adds
The forecast comes from MET Norway; we do not claim to create that model. Our contribution is organising searches by locality, displaying destination times, converting units and explaining the limits of the summaries. Our guides use examples created to explain this interface. Illustrative numbers are labelled and kept separate from real forecasts.
From the response to the screen
- We select the coordinates of your chosen locality. A city-centre point does not represent every nearby neighbourhood, beach or summit.
- We validate the model date and available points. The application rejects models older than 24 hours or data without a usable current point.
- We show up to eight upcoming points and group up to seven local dates. Later forecast points may be spaced further apart.
- We calculate the range of available temperatures and choose a point near midday for the daily icon, retaining the precipitation interval associated with it.
Three different time labels
The clock shows the destination’s local time. The forecast time identifies the selected point. The model update identifies the source data. A moving clock does not mean the provider has issued another forecast.
While the tab is visible, the browser checks the forecast once a minute and limits its cache to 30 minutes. The server respects the provider’s expiry. A new request can therefore return the same model; we do not promise fresh model output or half-hour forecast intervals every 30 minutes.
Editorial approach and corrections
Our texts explain the website and practical reading scenarios. They are not presented as a professional meteorological review of every forecast or reports of observed conditions. We do not publish climate statistics, probabilities or daily totals without suitable data and calculation.
To report an error, contact quinijr@gmail.com with the URL, city, language and affected value. We can review processing and presentation; a mismatch with observed weather does not by itself let us correct the provider’s model.
